Rikkie Kollé made headlines on Saturday night as she achieved a significant milestone by becoming the primary openly transgender woman to win the coveted identify of Miss Netherlands 2023. The 22-year-old, hailing from Amsterdam, received her sash from reigning Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel.

In 2012, the Miss Universe Organization introduced its selection process to permit transgender contestants to take part in the pageant. Angela Ponce from Spain made history as the first openly transgender woman to compete in Miss Universe in 2018, though she did not advance to the finals.
