This mid-size, long-range corporate jet, capable of carrying up to nine passengers, has been a symbol of privilege and convenience.
However, Prince’s choice to relinquish his private aircraft was driven by a profound realization of the excessive carbon emissions associated with private air travel when compared to more environmentally friendly commercial flights.
Prince acknowledges that he was previously enamored with the convenience and luxury of private jet travel but came to understand the detrimental environmental impact associated with it.
He expressed his commitment to change, stating, “I just can’t continue to do this.” His decision reflects a willingness to prioritize environmental concerns over personal comfort.
Having formerly owned 1/2 of of a dozen private jets, which includes the Citation III, that is the largest and most expensive to operate, Prince recognizes that flying private can become addictive.
Despite his acknowledgment of the inconveniences of commercial air travel, such as TSA screenings, long lines, canceled flights, and lost luggage, he remains steadfast in his decision to transition back to flying commercially.
While Prince plans to sell his Cessna, he reveals that he will lease a smaller aircraft from a friend for occasional personal trips.

He argues that the American society as a whole is not contributing enough and emphasizes the importance of considering the greater good rather than individual greed.
Prince’s choice resonates with the Institute for Policy Studies report, which requires better taxes on non-public jet income and fuel.
The report suggests a 10% sales tax on used aircraft and 5% on new ones, along with a doubling of the federal jet fuel tax for frequent private jet users.
By implementing these recommendations, private jet owners, including prominent figures like Elon Musk, would face significantly higher tax liabilities.

Stricter Regulations
